Wrestling season is finally over. It concluded a few weekends ago with the state tournament in Salem. I was able to travel down on Saturday morning, and Kristi stayed with the girls. Jeff only had three wrestlers qualify, which he was a little disappointed with, but there were lots of tough weight classes. He ended up having one kid win the championship, another one took second and the other took fourth. They took 5th as a team, which I think is great, since they were one of the teams who brought the fewest number of wrestlers!
It was a very long day! We didn't leave the Civic Center until well after 10:30, and then weren't able to get somewhere to have dinner until after 11, which is so not my style! I typically don't eat after 6, but since I hadn't eaten since our 11 am lunch, I was pretty hungry. I think our meals arrived a bit before midnight, and it was 1 am before I was in bed. (I decided to stay the night because it's a pretty good drive, and Dylan, one of Jeff's wrestlers is in a higher weight class, so I knew he'd be towards the end.) Anyway, it was fun to go down and to watch the kids do so well.
I also felt like I just couldn't catch up all week on my sleep! I'm not used to being up that late, and it took it's toll on me! Not to mention, last week was the first week since early December that we worked a full week, on time! Crazy!
A great big thank you to Kristi for staying with the girls!
Devon took 4th place. He is a former student of mine, and one of my favorites. He has continually battled injuries throughout his career, so it was nice that he had a healthy season to finish out his final year of wrestling.
Two of Jeff's assistants, Curt and Hunter.
These are Jeff's adorable managers, who made the trip down to cheer on the guys!
This is Ryan. He lost his mom in August, the first week that school started. It was quite bittersweet to see him wrestle in the finals. He came up a bit short, but he wrestled a very tough match, and impressed many with the strength he showed throughout the season.

This picture tells me that we need to get some sunshine in our lives! Haha...gosh we're pale!
