winding down...

Today is the last day of our break from school. Blah. I'm not a big fan of the day we return to school after a break. I know we have to go back, and I guess I'm ok with it, but don't get me wrong, if Frederick County Public Schools wants to pay me to stay home, I'm cool with that. I would love to get paid to stay home! (yeah right!) One could dream I guess. Speaking of dreaming (and totally changing the subject) I bought Jeff and I a mega-millions ticket. Let's face it- I've got no shot of winning that silly jackpot, but for some odd reason, I still got a ticket. Guess I've really got no shot if I didn't even buy one, so now I have something like a one in 100 million chance, or something crazy like that. Could you imagine?! Phew- I better snap out of that dream real quick, because Monday morning will be here in the blink of an eye.
I wonder if the day will come when I don't feel like I have 100 things to do around the house. Sometimes I think I only have 10 things to do, but I still have stuff to do. I guess when Jeff and I have kids I really will always have something to do. You'd think life would be all about lounging and relaxing, since it's only Jeff and I, but for some reason, I have a hard time sitting still. Because of my inability to sit still, I decided to try something new for dinner last night. I really don't know what got into me, but I made homemade pasta. I don't have a pasta roller, so that's the only part that was a bit annoying- rolling and rolling and rolling. But, honestly, it's really not that time consuming. I also made alfredo sauce from scratch. I improvised on that one, since I didn't have heavy cream, which I suppose is a good thing, because I probably saved us a few calories. (not many, I'm sure!) I also cooked some chicken, and just like that, we had fresh fettuccine alfredo. Jeff and Kristi both enjoyed it very much. That made me happy. Jeff normally doesn't like alfredo sauce, because it's too thick for him, but since I made this from scratch, and didn't use heavy cream, I think it helped keep it a little lighter. Now, I'm making a big pot of Italian Wedding Soup for dinner. I think we'll have a salad too. Sometimes making dinner is such a drag, so I've been trying to mix it up a little.
I'm not sure where I was going with this post. I must have gotten so wrapped up in winning the mega-millions jackpot, that I forgot! So here you have yet another boring post! (Sorry!)
I hope you had a good weekend!

I'll leave you with a "family" picture from Christmas break:
