Today was just another day of Claire being an only child! I had an appointment yesterday, and did a non-stress test. Basically to be sure the baby isn't under any stress, and that her heart rate responds to her movements. She is great. Heart beat is strong, and she's still quite active. I guess she must really be enjoying herself in there, because she's just not coming out! They also monitor contractions while you're there, and I was having consistent contractions about 3 minutes apart. The contractions are obviously doing something, because I'm 3cm dilated, but they're just not doing enough! I have another appointment for another non-stress test on Saturday morning, and then we may have to make a decision about how much longer they'll let me go, and if I'll have to be induced. Like I said before, I do not want that, but I also want to do what the doctor feels is best, and don't want to put her or myself in any danger. So that's it...we'll see. I honestly was ok with her coming when she was ready, but I'm starting to get anxious, and truthfully, I feel bad for Jeff. He goes back to work on Monday (boo!) so I was initially thinking he'd have some time to be home with us, but it's not looking like that will be the case. Of course he'll take some time off, but he still needs to be prepared for the first day of school, so he'll need to work at least a little! Ok, there's the update...now on to what we did today!
The weather has been beautiful for playing outside. It's actually almost been a little chilly at times, but Claire doesn't seem to mind, and just loves being outside. We are so blessed to have such great friends who are overly generous with their things, and she was just given several "outside" toys, including a barbie jeep. I have to be honest...I would probably never buy one! (shame on me?!) They are so expensive! So for her to be given one is just amazing, and we are so grateful. She's been trying to learn how to steer...it's slowly getting better. (kind of!)
So after playing outside for several hours this morning, Jeff and Claire did some letter practice with Jell-O. Who doesn't love Jell-O, right?! Of course she seemed to have fun, and enjoyed it even more once Jeff busted out the whipped cream. She probably liked it even better that Jeff was doing it with her, because I would have NEVER squirted the whipped cream in her mouth like he did! :)
Even though we're anxiously awaiting for this little lady to arrive, we're trying to make the most of our last few days of summer! Hope you're having a good week!
And, yes, of course I'll let you know when baby #2 arrives!
