Recently...

Hello there! To say I've been a tad busy is true, but since we're settled into a night time routine around here, I have a chance to update you on a few things.

First of all, life is SO much better around here! To say that I wasn't an absolute train wreck for about the first 4 weeks or so of Claire's life is a total lie. I was probably more than a train wreck. I was struggling! Anyway, I know what all you mom's out there are thinking...."it's going to get better!" And you're right, it has and it will continue to do so, but when you're living it, sometimes it's hard to believe. So...Claire has been doing great at night. For almost 2 weeks she has not had a middle of the night feeding. That doesn't mean that we're all sleeping through the night, especially me, because I wake up to every little sound she makes, but overall, she's doing great in that department. (my favorite is when she sleeps from 10 to about 5:30-6ish!) Jeff is awesome with her. It's really fun to watch him interact with her. Kristi also helps keep me sane. She is always there to help me, or listen to me, which is especially nice since Jeff is in the middle of wrestling season, and is gone quite a bit. It's hard doing this parenting thing on your own, so when Jeff is out of town, I know I can count on Kristi to help me out.

Last week, my mom came down to catch a flight with Claire and I to Florida. I was so excited to get away to some warm weather, but of course was super nervous about the flights with Claire. I didn't want to be "that lady" with the crying kid. Well, I can say once again, I'm blessed, because she was GREAT! As you can see below, she was basically not phased by her first plane ride! (which was fine with me!)

Not sure if I ever told you, but my parents recently bought a place in Ft. Myers, so the plan was for my mom, Claire and I to go there and get some work done to their place, you know, things like clean, paint, get a new TV, fun stuff like that. Well, it was beautiful week, and also a very productive week. I did lots of painting, and the place is looking good. My dad flew down on Sunday and him and my mom were able to purchase quite a few things for the place. He was also able to play some golf and hang out with Claire and I. It was great to spend time with both of them.

Also while we were in Florida I ran for the first time, which was awesome, strange and eye-opening all at the same time. I certainly have some work to do, but overall enjoyed being able to run in beautiful weather on nice flat ground! We also got to visit with some close family friends while there, which was great. My Aunt Linda even came over from Delray Beach to meet Claire and hang out.
Here are some pictures from the week:
Chubby cheeks at the airport.

Nap time by the pool!

She loved the pool! (can we just note the poor girl's receding hair line?! I did have a hat on her, but it was so big, and let's face it, you know you wanted to see her sad hair line!)

The 3 girls at pasta night at the club.

Since we've been back from Florida I've been trying to finish some Christmas shopping, and of course, I've been doing lots of baking. I've made several batches of cookies, and have also tried a few new recipes, like peanut butter fudge, which turned out pretty good. It's a good thing Kristi has some Christmas parties to go to, because I really don't have anyone to bake for, since I'm not working, although I'm sure I could send some treats to school with Jeff.

We will travel next week to Syracuse first, then to Albion. Jeff has a wrestling tournament that he has to be back for, so as usual, our time home will be short, but it will be nice to be with our families.
I hope you're stress free and enjoying the time leading up to Christmas!
xxoo
