awkward

I love the awkwardness of middle schoolers. I just can't help but smile each day at the awkward relationships and exchanges between the kids. The best are the girl-friend/boy-friend relationships, but even those kids who just have crushes on each other are pretty entertaining too. It's so odd to think first they're mean to each other, ignore each other, then exchange uncomfortable glances and smiles, maybe a mutual friend tells one of the people that the other "likes" them, maybe even someone asks someone "out" though a text message, or even on Facebook. Oh my, it's all so funny! I guess it's what keeps me coming back...those darn kids. They drive me absolutely nuts, but they do make me laugh too. Maybe I like it so much because I know that in a few years they will look back on their awkward behavior and chuckle, just like I do now, watching them interact.
