For the win!

As you probably know, Jeff became the head wrestling coach at Millbrook last season.  Although he had been an assistant for years, being the head coach is taking things to a whole new level!  I've lived the life.  I've seen first hand how to be the wife of a coach.  (Thanks, Mom!)  I honestly don't think many coaches get paid enough!  It is HARD work!  And I'll tell ya what...parents!  They're an entirely different story!  They are demanding!  Trust me, I want what's best for my kids, but some of the parents out there can wear me down!  Ok, so I promise I have a point here!  Last season was a rough year.  Jeff had a very young team, and a team that was plagued with injuries.  He had some success, but overall it was a LONG season!  Sadly, his team did not win one district dual meet.  Once again, he has a young team, and has hit some rough spots, but I can say that he just keeps pressing along.  Working so hard each day to make these kids better.  I think he probably ends up making about .08 cents an hour doing this job, considering how much time he puts in, but that's not why he's there.

On Monday night they had a match at another high school in the county.  Going into the last match, his team was winning by 4 points.  For those of you who don't know too much about wrestling (and I can't blame you, if you don't!) the final wrestler kind of needed to win, or could lose by a regular decision, which would only give the other team 3 points.  Well, after spending a little bit of time on his back, and almost getting pinned (in my opinion!) he turned things around in the 2nd period, and ended up pinning his opponent to seal the win for the team!  Finally....Jeff got his first district win after (almost) 2 long years!

I think it's a testament to hard work, and effort.  I'm proud of him, and his team, because let's face it...winning is so much more fun than losing!  There is about a month left in the season...which is good, because it's a lot of time, and a lot of work.  I'm sure even though he loves it, he'll be glad when it's over for this season.  He has a few kids with some real potential to do well at states, so I hope they are successful!
