what a difference....

One year ago I was only one week away from running my first (and last?!?!) marathon! It's strange to think about how different my life and my routine was just one year ago. I'm really starting to think that training for a marathon (and running it) was easier than being pregnant (and over-due). And don't get me wrong, I have had a fantastic pregnancy- I truly can't complain about being sick or miserable or swollen or whatever, because really, it hasn't been terrible, but I can't help but compare!
Here are a few reasons why:
*During marathon training I didn't gain weight.
*During marathon training I didn't need help putting on my socks and shoes. (I might have needed help getting in the house the night we drove home from NYC after the race, but that was a one time thing, so it doesn't really count, right?!)
*During marathon training I slept like a rock at night.
*During marathon training I had an unlimited wardrobe- I could wear ALL of my clothes!
*During marathon training I knew when it would all be OVER!

Probably the toughest thing about being pregnant (for me, anyway) is that I have no clue when it's going to come to an end. I remember the excitement and nerves I felt leading up to the race, and I feel excitement and nerves now, just in a totally different way, because I have absolutely no idea when this little lady will make her appearance. Oh well...it's all part of the experience, right? Just like sore muscles and a black toe nail or two were all part of the marathon experience....
