I had to do some running around the first few days...man, I wonder if everyone in Winchester is on summer vacation, and they want to drive all the same places I do at 10:30 in the morning! Don't people work?! Sometimes it takes me 5 minutes to get somewhere, and then the next time, I could be going the same place, and it takes 20 minutes! Anyway....enough about that. I got most of my errands done, and I still have a few to do this week. (It's a wonder I get anything done while I'm working!)
I have also had the opportunity to hang at home, read, bake, do yard work, and so much more. (I probably should have said that I've done laundry too...phew, laundry never stops. Guess I should get used to that, since after all, I'll be responsible for my kids laundry too!)
On Wednesday night, Kristi had Jeff and I over for dinner at her place. She made us a pork tenderloin, scalloped potatoes, green beans and a tossed salad. It was yummy! After a few rounds of "Just Dance" on the wii, I went with them to watch their kickball game. Umm, yeah...interesting! Both Jeff and Kristi made some very nice plays, and both of them had a couple "ooops" plays as well! Ha! I think they are having fun- they are half way through their "season" and they haven't won a game yet. I was SURE they would win this one, because the other team only had 5 players, but no such luck! Maybe next time, Maroon Team! I guess after the kickball games all the teams go out to a local bar/restaurant in town, TC Tooties- they sponsor the league. I tagged along for a while and had 2 delicious ice waters! It was nice to see a few people out, and then it was getting close to the time I turn into a pumpkin, so Kristi brought me home, then went back to hang with Jeff & Co. a while longer!
On Saturday I went to my friend Amanda's bridal shower. (It's actually Kristi's co-worker, and Kristi is a bridesmaid!) It was a lovely little shower, and Amanda got some very nice things. I made the favors (cookies, did you guess?!) I bagged these up a bit different than I have before, because I saw the idea on a great cooking/baking blog (Pennies on a Platter, I think I've mentioned it before, check it out!) I think they turned out cute. I received lots of compliments, which is always nice. Here is the bride to be, and a few of the cookies I baked:
I'm working a few extra days at the funeral home, since I'm taking some time off this summer, and one of the other ladies is working for me. (the least I can do is help her out, ya know?!) Plus, I feel like you can never have too much money in the summer...especially when you're traveling!
That's all for now.
Hope you had a great weekend!
xxoo
