snow day project #1

I'm only a little embarrassed to show you this:

This is Jeff's tool storage cabinet in the laundry room. It's a TOTAL mess. (I know, you can see that.)

One problem with our house (and trust me, there are many, many more) is there is pretty much no storage space. We have no garage- boo; we have no real basement-boo; and the shed is so far away from the house, (ok, not really that far, but far enough) that it makes no sense to store many of Jeff's tools there. I know I sound like a total brat when I say I'm not in love with our house. (I realize so many people wish they could just have their own house) But, in my selfish state, I could think of 100 things I want in a house that this place just doesn't offer, but remember now, we're teachers- teachers who haven't gotten a raise in 3 years- and if you want me to be perfectly honest...I've actually taken a pay CUT the past 2 years, but that's beside the point, and I'm really off topic now. (sorry!)

So, since Jeff was complaining he was bored practically from the minute he woke up, I decided I'd drag him downstairs to clean out his storage cabinet. Now, in Jeff's defense, pretty much nothing in this house is really just his. I have taken over every nook and cranny, including this storage cabinet. I would put random things in there that I had no place for, and then, as you can see from the picture above, things got a little out of hand.

At first I wasn't going to show you the before picture, but then I realized that all of you readers out there don't expect me to be perfect, or expect my house to be perfect either. It's life I guess...real life. Trust me, I would love nothing more than to be perfect, but since I'm not, at least it gives me something to write about!

So, ladies and gents- after a little less than 2 hours, this is what we have:

It's AH-MAZING what a little time and effort (and purging) will do for the storage cabinet in the laundry room.
I have big plans for this laundry room. Like new flooring, new cabinets, you know, stuff like that, but that will happen when oh, maybe we win the lottery. (remember, we're just school teachers!) :)

Anyway, I was pleased to have this crossed of my list. (It's been on my list of things to do for months and months)
We'll see what the afternoon brings. I guess the snow is really supposed to start coming down later this afternoon. 6-10 inches predicted...you know what that means if that much snow actually falls!!!

It's too bad I'm not eating sweets this week, because today would be a delightful day to bake up something delicious.

Stay tuned for snowfall amounts a bit later!
